Nurse Story: Pam Disshon, LPN

“I’m taking care of you like you are my mother, and I want to make sure everyone has the best care they can."

Pam Disshon had only been with Amare Medical Network for a few months when tragedy struck her family: her daughter passed away. Pam didn’t expect the response she received from Amare or her recruiter.

“Amare was there for me at the worst time of my life,” Pam said. “I also had another employer at the time, and I had been with them for years, but they weren’t nearly as good to me as Amare was.”

“When I became Pam’s recruiter, for the first six weeks, she was going through a very hard time with her daughter, who was very ill in the hospital,” Lisa Ellenberger said. “I didn’t even schedule her during that time. We just talked on the phone about what was going on.”

Pam said these talks really helped her.

“I really got to know Lisa. She became one of my biggest support people.”

More than two years later, Pam continues to thrive with Amare by working in long-term care facilities. Recently, she received Amare’s Core Values Ambassador award.

“I nominated Pam because she truly does deliver care worthy of a million smiles,” Lisa said. “She’s talked to me about losing people at the facilities and going to their funerals. She represents Amare well.”

Pam has been an LPN for 12 years and enjoys caring for the residents and their families when they need it the most.

“I’m taking care of you like you are my mother, and I want to make sure everyone has the best care they can,” she said.

While Lisa is no longer directly working with Pam, their friendship endures.

“I feel like I have a friend for life in Pam,” Lisa said. “She has a really special part of my heart.”

Pam feels the same way.

“I know I can always count on her.”
